Celebrating Colours, Culture and Harmony : Holi and Dol Purnima Greetings from NMSS Guwahati
As the vibrant festival of Holi paints our hearts and
horizons in brilliant hues, the National Maarg Sangeet Sanstha (NMSS) Guwahati
extends warm and heartfelt Holi greetings to every music lover, devotee of
culture, and well‑wisher across Assam and beyond. On this auspicious Dol
Purnima, we invite you to celebrate not only the arrival of spring but also the
spirit of unity, devotion, and communal harmony that lies at the heart of our
traditions.
A Festival of Joy and Devotion
Holi, or Dol Purnima, is more than a festival of colours; it
is a celebration of divine love, especially the eternal bond between Radha and
Krishna, and the joyous pastimes of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. At NMSS
Guwahati, we view Holi as a sacred occasion to deepen our connection with the divine through kirtan, bhajan, and devotional chantings that echo
in homes, temples, and community gatherings. This Holi, as you play with gulal
and water, may your hearts also be filled with the colour of devotion and
compassion.
Greetings from the Cultural Heart of Guwahati
NMSS Guwahati has always strived to preserve and promote the
rich tapestry of Indian classical and devotional music. As you celebrate Holi
this year, we cling to the same spirit of rhythm and melody that brings people
together—across age, language, and background. Let the beats of the mridang and
the strains of the harmonium blend with your laughter, reminding us that music
and colour are universal languages of joy.
We extend our special Holi wishes to all our students,
teachers, performing artists, patrons, and supporters: May your homes be
filled with harmony, your minds with peace, and your families with health and
prosperity. May this festival wash away tensions, misunderstandings, and
sorrows, and drench your lives with new beginnings and renewed hope.
A Message of Harmony for the Northeast
In the culturally diverse land of Northeast India, Holi is a beautiful symbol of integration, where Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Mising, Karbi, Dimasa, Rabha, Tiwa Lalung, Deori, Sonowal Kachari, Rabha, Koch‑Rajbongshi, Garo, Khasi, Jaintia, Naga, and Meitei communities, Nepali, Santhali, and tribal groups from across the region, come together in celebration and other communities come together in celebration. As an organisation rooted in Guwahati, NMSS Guwahati reiterates its commitment to fostering cultural unity through music and shared festivals. This Holi, we encourage everyone to:
- Play
and celebrate with care, especially for the elderly, children, and our
environment.
- Respect
local customs and traditions observed during Dol‑related rituals and
kirtans.
- Share
sweets, songs, and smiles with neighbours near and far, strengthening the
bonds of community.
Looking Ahead with Music and Colour
As the last streaks of Holi colours fade, and the new season
unfolds, NMSS Guwahati looks forward to continuing its journey of nurturing
classical and devotional music in this region. May the spirit of Holi inspire
us to compose new melodies, organise inspiring concerts, and create platforms
where every voice—whether on stage or in the audience—feels heard and valued.
From the entire NMSS Guwahati family, we wish you a joyous,
safe, and spiritually enriching Holi 2026.
May your world be ever‑bright with the colours of love,
music, and culture.
